Jonathan, welcome to AlternativeMedicine.io! For our readers who are eager to learn from your expertise, could you please tell us a bit about yourself and your journey into the world of health and wellness?

I have more than 20 years of experience in alternative medicine. I have never been a big believer in taking pills for every illness because I think the body is 'born to heal.' I found a useful way to 'fix the metabolism' with functional medicine about 20 years ago. In an effort to help diabetics reduce their medication and improve their lives, my grandmother, who passed away prematurely when I was just 17 years old, has driven me to find a better approach. After twenty years of helping type-II diabetics, I still get a kick out of seeing someone's life turn around due to better health and a higher standard of living.

Your background is incredibly interesting! Could you share a pivotal moment or experience that solidified your passion for alternative medicine and led you to where you are today?

My first type-II diabetic who needed my help was going blind, heading to kidney failure, taking insulin and four other medications, and losing complete hope in modern healthcare. After a few months of my help fixing the root issues, his sight came back, he got off all medications, including insulin, and his kidneys came back to normal.

Many individuals are curious about incorporating alternative healing practices into their lives. What inspired you to initially explore these practices for yourself?

When I was 13 years old, I was reading health magazines, anatomy and physiology books, Muscle and Fitness, and incorporating herbs and vitamins into my sports and training. I was a bit of a nerd, I guess. My dad thought I was crazy and thought 'all these vitamins were bad,' and he took me to his medical doctor, who didn't even know what many of these vitamins do and how they improve performance. Shortly after that, my uncle had a major heart attack, and we went to visit him in a 'prestigious hospital.' I could not understand why they were giving him mashed potatoes, bad carbs, steak with butter, and orange juice after he had a heart attack. I knew there had to be a better way.

That's truly inspiring! Can you share a specific instance where an alternative healing practice yielded significant positive results for you personally?

I found out I had an autoimmune disease called Hashimoto's. Since applying my functional-medicine training, I have turned my life around and have never needed medication. My comprehensive lab testing looks amazing.

It's fascinating how these practices can have such a profound impact. What advice would you give to someone who's just starting to explore alternative medicine and feeling overwhelmed by the vast array of options?

Read books, watch videos, and find someone who you trust will offer a comprehensive approach. Also, check reviews and their bio.

Finding the right practitioner can be crucial. What key qualities or qualifications should individuals look for when seeking a practitioner in a specific alternative healing modality?

I think two things stand out: their reviews from other patients, as well as how they look. Are they practicing what they preach or sitting in an ivory tower, telling but not doing themselves?

Navigating conventional medical advice alongside alternative therapies can be challenging. Have you encountered any situations where integrating these two approaches was particularly beneficial, and if so, how did you approach it?

Yes, all my type-II diabetics are supposed to 'treat the smoke' with medications while we are working on 'putting out the fires' naturally. As they get better, they will essentially need less of both the medications and the supplements.

It's important to acknowledge that everyone's healing journey is unique. Can you share an experience where you had to adjust your approach or recommendations based on an individual's specific needs or circumstances?

Yes. I have had many truck drivers who have a challenging time eating healthy on the road, so I help them by giving them prep steps and planning-ahead options so their diet stays healthy.

As we conclude this enlightening conversation, what final words of wisdom or encouragement would you offer to our readers seeking to enhance their well-being through alternative healing practices?

The body is born to heal if it is given the right approach at the right time. I feel when someone wants to feel better and live with optimal health, they can gravitate toward 'quick fixes' and not stay persistent on a given path to see long-term results. Stay positive and stay focused. Rome was not built in a day.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise. Is there anything else you'd like to add?

Thank you. I hope someone can benefit from my expertise and experience.
